Whenever I believe something is fantastic by any means, I instinctively subtitle it as "That's My Dad", since dads are a given synonym for fantastic. Albeit not every father is great, on this website we'll live in our fantasies where everyone's dad goes fishing with you, takes you to strip clubs, concerts and manages to impress your friends with his 96' Impala. Leonard Cohen’s Old Ideas -
At age 77, song-writer veteran Leonard Cohen returns with his 12th album, Old Ideas: a remarkable and sorrowful work of poetry at the final years of his life. Old Ideas is filled with bitter, sardonic and dry introspections that works as a piece of Cohen on Cohen over what seems to be some of the saddest aspects of his life. The album feels like having an old wise man read out his diary recounting what his life felt like when he was most vulnerable; not unlike a work of Sylvia Plath. It’s a treat to have Cohen fit the role of the old wise man as he delivers stories with his refined set of literary skills, gorgeous imagery and an admirable grasp on human emotion. (8/10)
